Andy Murray’s $7737.60 dinner and drink bill after his US Open win

After his career-defining moment winning his first Slam at the U.S. Open, Andy Murray and his team of 29 toasted his historic win at Chinese restaurant Hakkasan in New York City just after midnight.

As reported by the London Evening Standard, the group celebrated for nearly two hours, beginning with 17 Zesty Martinis, 5 bottles of Louis Roederer champagne and several other cocktails amounting to $1408 in drinks alone. But all that Andy had to drink was a $6 lemon soda — the cheapest thing on the menu! I guess five hours on court, adrenaline, overwhelming shock and relief, and media tours the following morning kept Murray from fully realizing and celebrating his win right away.

Dinner followed for the group which was priced at $168 a plate, and included the Hakka steamed dim sum platter (scallop shumai, har gau, prawn and Chinese chive dumpling, black pepper duck dumpling), the Crispy duck salad with pomelo, pine nut and shallot, and the Salt and pepper squid. Thirty mouths is a lot to feed and the sum came out to $5040.

Luckily, because you’re Andy Murray, you get your food, drinks and complimentary desserts discounted heavily. At about 100%. The restaurant footed the entire bill save the $1289.60 gratuity tip.

For a champion that just won $1.9 million in prize money, $7737.60 isn’t too high of a price to pay, but New York treats its champions right.

Afterward, much of the group decided to stay out and party, but Andy admitted to being back in his hotel room by 2:45am. Too much emotion running through him, he barely got an hour of sleep before the morning rounds for television appearances and photoshoots began. But boy, did he look good for CBS This Morning:
