Just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse for British tennis, they do. In fact the situation has become so comical even the genius minds of the Monty Python crew would have been hard-pressed to come up with this.
Carry On Tennis, it should be called.
“Great Britain suffer humiliating Davis Cup defeat” scream the BBC.
“Dan [...]

While the cameras may have been focused on Dubai and Acapulco last week as the two largest tournaments taking place on the ATP Circuit, a (not-so) little Latvian was making history on the courts of Delray Beach in the United States.
The 6 foot, 3 inch, 21-year-old was in scintillating form and didn’t drop a set [...]

Phew! After the monumental flopping of a majority of the Spanish players I had talked up in my pre-Aussie Open blog what a relief it was to see Sam Querrey and John Isner performing so well at Memphis last week following on from my next big American blog.
My thinking has been on great champions once [...]

As the dust settles and the tears dry following Roger Federer’s whitewashing of Andy Murray in Melbourne the ATP marches on.
Last week saw ATP 250 Tournaments held in Zagreb, Croatia, Johannesburg, South Africa and Santiago, Chile. It is testament to the worldwide appeal that tennis holds so strongly.
The giant Marin Cilic took his home title [...]

This year’s Australian Open highlighted once more the stagnant pool of young teenage starlets whose careers have significantly flattened out since hitting the dizzy heights of the women’s game at a young age.
Unfortunately, it was the usual suspects as always. Maria Sharapova, Jelena Jankovic, Ana Ivanovic; they all crashed out to supposedly lesser opposition once [...]

The other day, I was sitting in my living room in the UK periodically listening to what sounded like an exasperated woman exhaustingly felling a great oak tree.
Weird, no trees in this part of the city.
I opened the window, looked up and down the street. I’m not imagining it; I can still hear the grunts [...]

Andy Murray has ended weeks of speculation by confirming he has pulled out of Great Britain’s Davis Cup match against Lithuania in March as they begin life in the competition’s third tier. Murray claimed that he would prefer to concentrate on his efforts to lift more Masters Event trophies and break his Grand Slam duck.
