Davydenko ends downward spiral, beats Roddick in Miami semis

Nikolay Davydenko - semis - Miami 2008

Is Nikolay Davydenko’s downward spiral finally over? The World No. 5 continues a great hard court performance by ending the winning streak of the blissful, engaged, and now part-New Yorker Andy Roddick in the semifinals of the Sony Ericsson Open on Friday. This is Nikolay’s first win over Andy in six tries. The score was 7-6 (5), 6-2.

Roddick shouldn’t be too sad, though. He snapped a winning streak himself, notching a victory against Roger Federer for the first time since November 2003 (while coachless, even).

I prefer this red version of Kolya’s Airness kit over the white one. And the red wristband’s a nice touch. Helps cover up the taped (ack!) wrists.
