Hingis Sets Up Semifinal Clash Against Dementieva

In almost forty three minutes, second-seeded Swiss Martina Hingis clobbered Australian Samantha Stosur,6-0,6-1, and advanced into the semifinal round of the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo, Japan.

Stosur’s five aces and a double fault was never enough to halt Hingis who was obviously was on fire, from advancing into the semifinals. With this win, Hingis leads Stosur in career-head-to-head wins at 2-0.

“It’s no coincidence that I play well here. The surface suits me and everyone treats me so well here in Japan so that I’m able to relax,” Hingis said.

In the semifinals, Hingis faces defending champion Elena Dementieva who ended  Roberta Vinci’s fancied run in the tournament, 6-1,6-2. Hingis and Dementieva are tied at 3 wins a piece in career head-to-head wins.

“If I play the way I did today I don’t have to be afraid of anybody. I’ll definitely want revenge,” Hingis added.
