The headline says it all! Caroline Wozniacki has finally found her bête noire. The black beast who gets under your skin and this beast’s name is Julia Goerges. Julia Goerges defeated the Dane in a wonderful match last month at the Porsche Grand Prix Tennis in Stuttgart last month and where many thought it was a fluke, Julia Goerges went out and did it again at the Mutua Open in Madrid defeating the Dane in three sets 6-4, 1-6, 6-3.
When asked about her tactics Goerges had the following to say:
“I tried to get her (Wozniacki) out of her rhythm and not let her push me and be the first to push her,” she told a news conference. “I like to play high balls to her backhand and if she goes short I have a chance to go for the shots. The second set she started to be more aggressive and I started to get tired, so I said to myself keep yourself together for the third set and try to fight for every point.
As for how it feels to beat the number one of the world twice in one month she said:
“I beat her twice and twice in two weeks so I’m pretty proud of myself.”
And that’s how you get under one’s skin!
